The Daily Signal Media Group seeks an experienced journalist to serve as a news reporter covering Virginia state government and politics. This position will focus on delivering accurate and timely reporting on legislative sessions, policy developments, and political movements that affect citizens' daily lives. This is an independent contractor position and does not include benefits.

Position Overview

As our Virginia correspondent, you will be responsible for producing original news coverage that examines how government actions and policies impact communities. You will work independently to develop sources, identify newsworthy stories, and deliver compelling content that helps readers understand complex political issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and report on legislative sessions, committee hearings, and executive actions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with legislators, officials, policy experts, and other key sources.
• Write clear, accurate news stories on tight deadlines about state government activities.
• Produce in-depth analysis pieces examining major policy initiatives and their implications.
• Cover breaking political news and developments.
• Identify emerging trends in policy and politics that deserve coverage.
• File public records requests and analyze government documents.
• Maintain an active presence on social media platforms to share stories and engage with readers.
• Collaborate with editors on story development and editorial planning.

Location and Schedule

• Must be based in Virginia or willing to travel to Richmond.
• Position requires regular presence at the Virginia General Assembly during legislative sessions.
• Flexible schedule with availability for evening/weekend coverage as news warrants.

Rate / Salary

$300/article. Competitive contract rate commensurate with experience. Payment structure based on story production and performance. Travel expense reimbursement for approved coverage outside the capital region.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Product Designer to create intuitive, elegant, and user-friendly experiences across the Made Card and homeowner platform. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and marketing to bring designs from concept to launch — shaping the look, feel, and usability of our core product while contributing to our design system and brand identity.

What You’ll Do

• Design end-to-end user experiences across the Made Card and homeowner platform.

• Translate product requirements and user research into wireframes, prototypes, and polished designs.

• Collaborate with product and engineering to ensure designs are implemented with quality and consistency.

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of our design system.

• Support marketing by aligning visuals and creative assets with the product’s identity.

• Conduct usability testing and iterate based on insights and feedback.

• Advocate for the user at every stage of the product development process.

Ideal Background

• 3–5+ years of product design experience, ideally in consumer fintech or high-growth startups.

• Strong portfolio showcasing user-centered design, UI/UX excellence, and design systems.

• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product and engineering teams.

• Skilled with modern design tools like Figma and comfortable with rapid prototyping.

The Opportunity
As the Product Manager for Clovis, you will own the full product lifecycle—discovery, design, execution, and growth—across Clovis’ modules: Clovis Market, Exchange, Transport, and Vault. You’ll operate at the intersection of engineering, design, data, business, and community, helping scale a platform that’s shaping the future of cross-chain DeFi.

What You’ll Do:

• Define and drive the long-term product vision, strategy, and quarterly roadmaps for Clovis.

• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to deliver seamless cross-chain lending, liquidity, and asset management experiences.

• Conduct market and user research to map journeys, identify pain points, and ensure product-market fit.

• Draft clear user stories, technical specifications, and product documentation that empower engineering and protocol teams.

• Coordinate engineering sprints and ensure timely execution across cross-functional teams (frontend, backend, smart contracts, data, design, risk).

• Work with data teams to set up dashboards, monitor product performance (e.g., TVL, user retention, transaction success), and propose actionable improvements.

• Collaborate with risk teams to model economic implications, set protocol parameters, and maintain robust guardrails.

• Cultivate partnerships, support integrations, and act as a Clovis advocate at industry and community events.

• Oversee product releases, manage testing/QA processes, and own internal product excellence initiatives.

Primary Functions

• Enters claims data into system while interpreting coding and understanding medical terminology in relation to diagnosis and procedures.
• Review, analyze, and resolve claims through the utilization of available resources for moderately complex claims.
• Analyze and apply plan concepts to claims that include deductible, coinsurance, copay, out of pocket, etc.
• Examines claims to determine if further investigation is needed from other departments and routes claims appropriately through the system.
• Adjudication of claims to achieve quality and production standards applicable to this position.
• Release claims by deadline to meet company, state regulations, contractual agreements, and group performance guarantee standards.
• Reviews Policies and Procedures (P&P’S) for process instructions to ensure accurate and efficient claims processing as well as providing suggestions for potential process improvements.
• Performs all job functions with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality in compliance with federal, state, and departmental confidentiality guidelines.
• Flexible schedule that may include working 5 hours of overtime on pre-determined Saturdays to meet business needs. Moda’s standard workweek is a 37.5 hour work week.
